Particularly on the tail lamp element, you have not really described the operating procedures for the system. Your answer implies that it is the following train that will first see the tail lamp of a divided train. This has two issue in my mind. 1. It is the train control system which should detect this and deal with it and 2. How would a following train distinguish between the tail lamp on a complete train in front and one of a portion of a divided train. I would have expected a discussion on how the tail lamp gives a unique identifier to the system (usually the eye of a signalman directly or via a tail lamp camera) and what that means to them. On the track circuit element, you have given a very basic (correct) description of the operation of a TC, but you have not really described how this function is used to help prove train integrity. eg. the continuous nature of track circuits means that a divided section of train will not allow the section in which it sits to show clear. The item on on-board integrity checking is a little better, but I think that you have jumped to explaining how you might implement it rather than describing the what the system is trying to achieve. Your part about where these system may be the most suitable method does not really explain why these would be the most suitable (you are probably correct that your examples are where these may be used, but you need to demonstrate to the examiner that you know why). I am not really sure how you have interpreted what is being asked in section B. I believe that it is asking what issues there may be when a train moves from an area where one integrity system is used to one where a different system is in use - ie what are the risks for the transition. You appear to have listed some things that may be provided to mitigate issues at the transition, but have given no reasoning about what the are there for an why they would be needed. I guess that my poor knowledge cannot answer well due to insufficient study and cannot show out that I truly understand. And sometimes I even gave the ideas not relevant the question. Trying to understand the question is quite difficult for me due to my poor English language perhaps. So getting any comment from you is crucial for my newbie experience. Best regards Arnut |
