Track circuits inside tunnels - kochronaki - 29-03-2023 Good morning team. I am trying to find in some specification if there is a restriction on installing track circuits inside tunnels whether there is a line structured with ballast or slab track. Please if there is such a specification or regulation please let me know. Thank you in advance. There will be application parameters that are going to be product specific (eg the range of ballast / formation leakage (for slab track it will also depend the particular construction and whether there is metallic reinforcing which impacts this and any tuned zones), length etc). Some products are not suitable for slab track. Some perform less well in damp tunnel environments. Different infrastructure managers will have restrictions about how equipment that requires maintenance is installed in tunnels (eg clearances for staff, proximity to access locations) and some tunnel safety systems rely on train detection boundaries being well defined locations (so transition points in tuned zones are not always desirable where you need to know precisely which side of a ventilation shaft a train is). If you have a more specific question, then please give details. Peter |
