Control tables versus Essay Questions
#11
Hi PJW,

In response to a couple of your points...

1.) Not my picture... but probably a fair representation of what I will grow up to be if I stay in signalling industry!

3.) This , is my overall opinion on the IRSE exams as well. I agree that practically with having exam centres all around the world and the need for time off work the current one day format is hard to beat, however in a perfect world I would support the idea of a 1 week residential exam experience. Imagine having one day to do the scheme plan and one day to do the CT.... much more realistic and removes the element of exam technique to a large extent. The week could be mixed with dinners and possibly a site visit or two to break it up a bit. Also, given how much it would cost, it would stop employers sending staff on it, unless they were sure they had a chance of passing.

6.) Very interesting that you fell into the same trap as me. We should ensure that other understand how the marks are calculated.

9) I agree, that lots of practice is the only way that you can get yourself comfortable enough that you could even attempt to do these exams quickly.

and finally, when I did my IRSE exams I was still in the UK, so used NR standards for my layout. However if you are who I think you are, then we have met, about a month ago in a bar in BKK!
