There has always been a long debate about the amount of work that is required in the time. Such feedback and discussion is something to have with the examiners at the IRSE (the exam review meeting held in the early part of each year is a good opportunity).
Bear in mind thought, the exam has always been thus and there is a range of grades from very good to not so good. The exam committee normally takes the view that the exam is supposed to be challenging (probably the most challenging test in the early part of ones career) and all the time that there are candidates achieving all grades, the exam is probably considered to be at the correct level.
One other thought is about the changes that are likely to happen in this year's exam which have been discussed elsewhere.
