The IRSE exams are vocational and whilst exam technique is critical, working knowledge is a huge advantage. An answer to a question may be valid but if it is not complete, how can the examiner judge that you understand the ramifications or causes. After all, it is your job to persued the examiner you understand and that they should award you the marks!
