In one of the project requirement specifications, i came across one line " As a result of providing IBCL rather than RCPL point operating mechanisms it will no longer be possible to drive the points directly from the existing Trackside Functional Modules (TFM) and therefore interface relays and new points power supplies will need to be provided." I am confused with this statement as clamp lock mechanism can be directly driven through Point module. If this is a different case with IBCL, I dont know exact basis why IBCL cannt be directly driven by Point module's Motor outputs. Is there a specific reason for using interface relays rather than direct driving?
